ThermalVision - A Bagby Electric of Va, Inc. Service

Bagby Electric of Va. has been a leading electrical service provider since 1987.  Part of the success is due to Bagby's ability to keep in step with ever changing and continued  technological advances in the electrical industry.  This ability to adapt to change has enabled Bagby Electric to continually provide superior electrical service to its customers.

In any economy a loss in production could mean a loss in revenue and increase the  need for safety both at work and at home.  With this increasing demand on safety and electrical efficiency, Bagby Electric leads the way to provide for a safer environment, greater productivity, and a better bottom line.

How are we doing this?  By using the latest technological advancements in the market today and the use of Thermography.  According to Webster’s dictionary, “thermography is a technique for measuring temperatures of distant surfaces”.  When you take the DeltaT (difference between two spot temperatures of a surface) and compare the sometimes substantial difference in temperature, that’s when you detect the risk, something you normally wouldn’t “see”.

Having researched several Infrared Cameras and found the best equipment for the job, Bagby's Thermal Vision personnel with a degree in Information Technology, stands ready to assist the customer to prevent any losses.  We use the infrared camera, which measures the heat of a surface, taking multiple spot checks.  We record the name of the object to help keep track for the report and database.  Once all the pictures are taken and we have all the data necessary, we then generate a report for the customer.  The reports are easy to read and come with a formula to determine the severity of the problem.

You might ask yourself why I should use Bagby's Thermal Vision Services:

1.      Safety.  Your employees are the #1 asset to your company.

2.     Repair "minor" problems before they become "major" problems.

3.      Reduces "down" time for equipment, production, personnel.

4.   A "preventive" maintenance MUST!

5.   Bagby can also provide the services to repair any electrical problems.

IR Surveying Services Loss Control 1997 found that $20.4 million in loss conditions were identified and prevented through the use of infrared surveying technology specialists.  Almost 500 site surveys were completed worldwide,  up from $13 million and 200 site surveys in 1996

Published in AIPE Facilities magazine:  On average, about eight electrical problems, or “hot spots”, are detected per IR survey.  Of these, four are minor or intermediate in severity, and four are serious or critical.  For each minor to intermediate problem detected, the average potential savings resulting from corrective/predictive action is $500.  For each serious to critical problem, the average potential savings is $3000 to $5000.

Testing needs to be taken during normal business hours, if at all possible because during the day the equipment is under the most load, therefore creating a more accurate test.
